Attractions in Paris - Reviews - Paris |
by JOHN M. Paris is world class city with outstanding attractions. The architecture is beautiful, there are tremendous museums, and many of the key sites are within walking distance from one another. Whether walking, taking the Metro, or a train to the outskirts, it is all doable. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, even though we only knew a little French. It was the vacation of a lifetime. We ate at cafres around Port Royal Metro station - they were excellent. We had a reasonably priced, good meal at Arnold's Restaurant. We also ate in other cafes, around the Opera House and near the Louvre - all were fine. Going out to dinner was always interesting. Often, we had no idea what we were ordering due to language issues, but generally, always liked what we got. We learned early that tartar meant it was raw, and that the French eat their eggs close to raw. One plate with cabanara sauce had a whole uncooked yolk sitting in the center of the spaghetti, but we could eat around it.
