Walking around in Paris - Reviews - Paris |
by LIMB N. We loved being able to walk along the promenade plantee up to Bastille and on to Notre Dame. This avoids both traffic and crowds. Visiting the parks - L.uxemburg, Vosages, Bercy. Sat and listened to a band playing in the Notre Dame gardens. Walked in the Sorbonne and Latin Quarter fairly quiet. Visited Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur enjoyable in spite of the crowds. Had delicious Berthillon ice cream on Isle St Louis. One meal in Latin Quarter, very old place, small with one man cooking, serving, doing everything good value at E11 for a delicious meal and a carafe of white wine. Another meal at a bistro in the Abbess area 3 courses for E13 sitting outside in the sunshine, wonderful. At the restaurant in the Latin Quarter I asked for the loo, I told by the chef that it was special. It was, it was great to find such an old place with a hole in the ground and footprints toilet still in Paris. I told my husband thast he must come out of the toilet before flushing or he might end up flushed away, it was so small' |
