Good time in Paris - Reviews - Paris |
by DUNNE K. We had a good time during our all too short stay in Paris(despite the Metro not running between airport and city on our arrival!). Promenade de Plantes. Lovely walk along disused (elevated) railway line. Gardens well kept and views over rooftops were interesting. Well signposted throughout. Walked full length and got Metro back to City Centre. Amazing find! Terminus Nord Restaurant, recommended by our hosts (who booked a table for us). A very busy restaurant, frequented by local people. Varied menu with fixed price option. Lots of sea food specialities. Busy atmosphere was in many ways a 'plus' as we enjoy people watching. Waiters were attentive and unhurried. Good food and service (which included a glass of champagne on the house to celebrate my wife's birthday. Watching people is always interesting - some behaviour was eye-opening! Our meal out to celebrate my wife's birthday was a laugh too as between us and the waiter we tried to unpick the menu which was entirely in French - the deserts, although delicious, were not what we thought they were! Back at the B&B, a 'boxing match' with the cat caused great amusement. Walked for miles. Lovely city; Great weather; friendly people. opposite Gare du Nord. A friend gave us a good guide book 'Paris by Metro' which we would recommend |
