We purchased a 4 day Paris Museum Pass in Paris and we found this to be a great investment. Whoever designed and developed the Museum Pass should be commended. We enjoyed our time in B&B, the Louvre and musee de orsay, and we really loved the tour of Versailles. We walked up the Eiffel tower & the Arc de Triomphe and were able to take amazing photos of the city.
We enjoyed a couple of great meals at Carmine Cafe - Avenue de Suffren where we had a beautiful Paris salade (as it was called) with ham, eggs, brocolli, lettus and cheese as well as pizza with chicken with peppers and a bottle of wine. It was devine. We topped off the evening with cafe latte and riz au lait 'grandmere' toffee au beurre. mmmmmmm!!!!
We had observed many times during our stay that people would have picnics on the gardens near the Eiffel tower so on our last full day we bought a baguette, some cheese, salad and some wine. We really enjoyed our picnic and when we left the park the exits were covered with police. My husband asked the police why they were there and it was because there had been a large party. They were checking people entering the park for alcohol.
Paris has so much to offer - great museums, wonderful rich history, amazing food and wine and beyond all of this it has a unique attitude. What I mean by this is there is no great distain for tourists (or at least we didn't feel it) but there is also no overt desire to please...it seems as though when you are in Paris you just do what everyone else does and get treated the same as everyone else, and I think that is a good way to experience Paris.
