In the Villette park, in northern Paris, stands an enormous sphere: the Geode.
The sphere contains an enormous theater with 400 seats and giant hemispheric screen. It is in many ways a unique cinema and perhaps the word cinema does not provide the right idea of what goes on here.
Inside the City of Science and Technology the giant steel sphere measures 36 meters in diameter and is composed of 6,433 spherical triangles that reflect the city, the sky and the Villete area. You'll have to spend at least two nights in Paris and take advantage of the deals on Last minute Paris, to pay less and see the projections at the Geode.
Arriving on foot will leave you breathless.
The theater interior is enormous and avant garde at the same time, equipped with a 1000m² hemispheric screen, a Omnimax process that allows projections of images 9 times bigger than normal and go well beyond the maximum field of view.
IMAX films are shown that last for about one hour and are repeated throughout the day. It's an opportunity not to be missed, even if you are in Paris on business take a break and lose yourself!
