Paul Klee exhibition “Polifonie” at the City of Music in Paris |
|
On the 18 of October the City of Music in Paris inaugurated an important exhibition dedicated to Paul Klee that will run until the 15 January 2012.
If you love the work of the Swiss artist take advantage of this event in Paris and stay in an Accommodation Paris during this period. It's the first time that the City of Music dedicates an exhibition to the painter. It's not an accident though, seeing as Paul Klee was passionate about music for most of his life. Son of a musical maestro the Swiss painter in particular loved the music of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart and Wagner and was a virtuoso of the violin. A key moment in his life was his move to Munich where he met many artists involved with Cubism as well as the founder of Bauhaus architecture, Walter Gropius, who asked Klee to teach painting in his famous school of art and architecture.
Klee defined himself as a painter-poet and started to use music references in his figurative art providing a polyphonic character to his works.
The exhibition at the Villette, which will be showing around 100 Klee paintings, comes from public and private collections and is overseen by the Paul Klee Zentrum in Bern. You will be submerged in the aesthetic debate of the time and younger visitors can take part in art and sound experiments at the end of the exhibition.
