stay in Paris - Reviews - Paris |
by BOON H. It was interesting staying with a Parisian family and becoming acquainted with their way of life. Marais for cheap local shopping, Champs Elysess and Galeries Lafayette for branded shopping. Tourist sites visited included Sacre Coure, Pigalle, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Louvre. This was not my first visit to Paris and I had already seen some of these places before. We also made a day excursion to Fontainebleau to visit the famous chateau. We had a particularly memorable dinner at Chez Gabrielle (located near Ternes metro station), which served awesome French cuisine at perfectly reasonable prices. The hostess was able to converse fluently in English and was patient in explaining the menu to us. I had foie gras and grilled fish with figs, which was fantastic. There was also a delectable range of desserts which my friends and I also sampled. After dinner concluded we were served some complimentary home-made chocolates, which were absolutely fantastic! I would strongly recommend this restaurant to all wishing to have memorable French food. Nothing particulary "funny" in the sense of the word happened to us. We ran into some little problems during our stay in Paris, as the shops typically closed early on the weekends sometimes leaving us insufficient time to do our shopping during our short stay there. Having been to Paris more than once, it is always an interesting city to visit with lots to see and sample. More people are now able to speak English, compared to when I came 5-6 years ago. However the traveller should duly plan what he wants to do on the various days of the week, as not all places will be open when he wishes to visit. |
