The Orsay Palace was destroyed in a fire during the Paris Commune and from the ashes a train station was erected that weighs more than the Eiffel Tower. When the station fell into disuse it was decided to give the strange building a new function and to transform it into a museum that has become one of the biggest attractions of the capital. The collection is open everyday except Monday from 10am until 6pm and evenings on Thursday. Full price tickets are 7.50. The most notable paintings of the museum are by Goya, Monet, Manet, and Van Gogh. After a visit you can walk along the Seine towards the Latin Quarter or if you prefer in the direction of the Eiffel Tower.
