DESCRIPTION This B&B is on the 5th floor with elevator in a three-story antique building. There are 2 double bedrooms available for guests, each with its own private bathroom. The living room and kitchen, where breakfast is served, and the first double bedroom (140cm wide bed) with large bathroom and bathtub on suite, are on the first floor. From the room there is an unusual view: The winter Circus. The furnishings are very well chosen and cared for with antique paintings and furniture. The second guest room’s private bathroom and shower is on the second floor. The second double bedroom (140cm wide bed), accessed by a stairway, is under a romantic mansard roof with skylights and a view of the famous Parisian rooftops. The owner is a film critic with refined taste and a strong sense of hospitality. The area is very up-townish, above all the Oberkampf Square, which offers various attractions, saloons and typical restaurants.
THE QUARTER This B&B is situated in the Marais Quarter, in the vicinity of the Place des Vosges, a silk fabric factory and worker’s living quarters in 1604. It was inaugurated by a horse show in 1612 for the wedding of Luigi XIII and Anna d’Austria. The square became a privileged gathering place for the aristocracy and it kept the name of Place Royale up until the Revolution. Then, in 1799, it took the name of the first department to pay taxes to the new republican state (Vosgi). The Arnaud Hotel, where Victor Hugo lived up until his exile, faces the square. Today, his apartment hosts a museum dedicated to him.
